We are celebrating jazz music throughout the month of February. This week, we introduced children to scatting using concepts from Warren Oree and the Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble.

January 2016 - Week 1 Recap

This week's recap is coming from Children's Day School in Ewing, NJ. Throughout the month of January, students will learn about the drum set. This week, students learned a basic rhythm using the bass drum, snare, and hi-hat.

March 2016 Highlight Video

During the month of March, students learned how to play the piano with their feet! The walking piano program is designed to teach children about harmony through the physical activity of playing songs with their feet. We also introduced students to the theremin, a unique sounding instrument that is played without physical contact. February 2016 Recap

February was Jazz month and students learned about the blues, scatting, and learned Watermelon Man by Herbie Hancock. Students learned about jazz through playing the piano & drum set. We continued learning about unique sounding instruments by playing the theremin. You can play the theremin without any physical contact. As you move your arms near the instrument, it will produce high or low sounds depending on how far away the movement is from the instrument. Weekly RecapWe started our month of bells this week.We played hand bells and learned Hanukkah and Christmas songs. Our video highlight this week is our preschool class at Center City Jewish Preschool singing the Dreidel Song to hand bells.
